The Dartmouth, Jacko, Pictorial, and Tower have all held elections during the past month, which we will chronicle briefly. The Dartmouth elected A. P. Haskell '30 business manager for the 1930 business directorate; C. E. Rauch '30, advertising manager; A. N. Rumpf '30, circulation manager; and A. J. McFarland '30, service manager.
Haskell is a member of Gamma Delta Phi fraternity, and lives in Hanover. Rauch, who is a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity, comes from Lebanon, Pa. Rumpf is a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and his home is South Bend, Ind. McFarland, who is a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity, comes from Watertown, S. D.
The elections were the result of a competition starting two years ago. The new directorate will take office April 1, 1929.
The Jacko elected B. B. Bradley '29, business manager; B. F. Stacey '29, advertising manager; A. C. Fisher '29, circulation manager; and E. E. Phelps '29, assistant advertising manager.
Bradley, the new business manager, is a resident of Duxbury, Mass., and a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Stacey, the advertising manager, lives in North Abington, Mass. Fisher, a member of Zeta Psi fraternity, comes from Ft. Thomas, Ky., and is also assistant manager of Lacrosse. Phelps, the assistant advertising manager, is from Concord, N. H., and a member of Gamma Delta Epsilon.
These men will assume their offices immediately.
The Pictorial elected E. P. Felch '29 editorin-chief, N. A. Rockefeller '30, assistant editor in charge of art pictures, K. A. Meyer, Jr. '30, assistant editor in charge of sports, and L. L. Richards '30, assistant editor in charge of activities. New members of the photographic board are R. S. Monahan '29, A. N. Leslie '30 and R. K. Martin '30.
In the selection of the business board P. C. Jameson '29 was chosen business manager, H. J. Stein '29 advertising manager and P. A. Georgopulo '29 circulation manager. W. C. Gutterson '29 and R. H. Ryan '30 were elected members of the business board.
The Tower elected H. L. Birge '30 of West Hartford, Conn., managing editor; M. B. Collins '30 of West Springfield, Mass., advertising manager; and F. H. Horn '30 of Toledo, 0., business manager. Birge is a member of Zeta Psi; Collins and Horn belong to Theta Delta Chi.
The weekly senior suppers in Commons were started in April and have proved very successful in getting the entire class together. Incidentally the present senior class, with its 424 members, is the largest in the history of Dartmouth. Prof. C. R. Lingley, the class advisor, and Dean Laycock spoke at the first supper,. Prof. J. F. Larson, the College architect, spoke at the second, President Hopkins was the speaker the following week. May 17th was Old Timer's Day, with the seniors the center of attention in their frock coats, burnt cork beards, silk hats, overalls, and other choice articles of apparel. The day was terminated by a senior supper.
The winner of the Barrett Cup will be announced at Wet Down June 2 as usual this year. The winner was chosen by the three upper classes May 3 from the following six seniors who were nominated for the honor: Albert Thomas Fusonie, Daniel Phillips Hatch, Jr., Myles Joseph Lane, Lawrence Henry Martin, LeRoy Crosby Milliken, and John Phillips.
