Disappearance of Freshman
FEBRUARY 1929

The college daily broke into headlines of a large type when a freshman who failed to appear after the vacation was reported as missing. W. H. Cox, 18, was missing for a little less than a week after he left his home in West Haven, Conn., supposedly to return to Hanover. He boarded a train for Hanover it was thought, but finally was located in Washington, D. C., when he telegraphed to his home bank for money. Upon receipt of the wire, banking authorities immediately notified William W. Cox, father of the boy, who in turn wired Washington authorities to detain his son at the Western Union office, where he was awaiting money from his bank.

Cox '32 returned to his home and from there proceeded to Hanover; he is again in college. He did good college work during his first months here and no reason is known for his unexpected journey to Washington.
