The trend of The Dartmouth toward a more serious general editorial tone seems to carry with it the support of its readers. The new editor, in the second month of his administration, has attacked a number of problems very straightforwardly in the tone of the editorial "Freedom for the Hoi Polloi," quoted above. Another notable editorial of the month dealt with the method of electing the Green Key. The editor favored a method whereby the greater part of the membership would be elected directly by various activities and organizations. His reasons were the elimination of fraternity bargaining and the efficiency of the Green Key as a functional organization.

On the whole, it has been rather a meagre month editorially. The editorial competition annually goes into a temporary coma during March, and emerges only gradually during April.
