I was very much interested in a letter in the last MAGAZINE from Robert D. Brewer '04, who raised an objection to the term "Big Green." I am afraid I cannot agree with the writer in his suggestion to discard"Big Green," for I sort of glory in the title. Dartmouth teams are big, no matter what one says, and the days are passed when Amherst, Williams and Wesleyan were our chief football opponents, and whethe were are beaten or not by Harvard and Yale, those teams know that they have tackled a big and tough customer. Let other alumni write in to this department and give their views on this matter, and let the majority rule. Do we discard "Big Green"?

Last month I let slip a little statement in the MAGAZINE to the effect that I might crank up the Ford and head for the Pacific Coast this summer "to see what the alumni are like" or some such wording. I think I know now.

First there came a letter from Bill Mudgett '18, telling me all about Palo Alto, and incidentally complimenting the whole staff of the MAGAZINE. Funny thing, I have run into a lot of '18ers lately; they seem to be all around. I remember Prof. Fred Lewis Pattee '88, who has long been connected with Penn State, telling us in a speech one night that the best classes all ended with "8," but of course that is open to dispute.

Then came another letter from the Dartmouth Alumni Association of the Pacific Coast, and Abe Winslow '20 had his name signed to the bottom of the letter, which announced a Pow Wow this summer at Wawona, Cal., starting August 31. I can't make California this summer, but I'll be right on deck for that Stanford-Dartmouth game in 1930.

Quite a high honor came to Harvey Cohn recently, who has been the varsity coach of cross country and freshman coach of track here for several years. He was appointed by Governor Tobey of this state to be chairman of the newly formed N. H. State Boxing Commission. This is the first commission that the state has had, and Harvey will be the first chairman.

Two other things came to light which were 'forgotten earlier in this article. The track team went to the Pennsylvania relays on April 26, and the Dartmouth mile relay team won the championship of America. To Huston, Pratt, Ripley and Capt. Swope go the honor of winning the intercollegiate cup, in the fast time of 3:20 1-5.

Ben Burch '32 of Washington, D. C., was recently elected captain of the freshman baseball team, following their victory over New Hampshire.
