Coach Evans' freshman basketball players have not lost a single game to date, and have a record of seven straight wins, including a 40-36 victory over the Columbia youngsters. The freshman hockey team, coached alternately by Brainy Bower and Sidney Hayward, won three games in a row, and then were wiped out by Harvard 8-0. They may come back.
The swimming team lost a close meet to Yale 36-26, in which Capt. John Bryant
swam to a new 50 yard mark, and the relay team took over the Blue's winning quartet. Other meets were won from Springfield and Brown.
For the first time, the boxing team fought as a recognized sport. However, they lost 4-2 to the University of New Hampshire.
The gym team, coached by Pat Kaney, opened its season with a string of veterans and a handsome 35-16 win from Temple University, famed for a football team which did not materialize in Hanover.
Harry Hillman began to size up his men for the Cornell-Dartmouth-Harvard games in Boston. Your correspondent will give track lots of time in the next issue, for Dartmouth really has the makings of a fine team.
Individual campaigns to date in track have been interesting. The one mile relay team took a fast race from Syracuse at the B.A.A. games, and followed it up with a victory over the same distance at the Millrose A.C. games in New York, drubbing Virginia and Brown. Monty Wells '28, world record hurdler, has won his event, the 45 yard highs, in several meets, beating John Collier of Brown, sharer of the record.
YALE 1-DARTMOUTH 1 Rogers, star Dartmouth wing, has taken a hard shot at Farrell, Yale goalie. The puck has gone out to Jeremiah but before he could shoot, Wilson, No. 8, Yale defense man, cleared the disc and prevented what seemed a possible Dartmouth score.
BOOMA CLEARS The sturdy and fast Big Green defense man is clearing the.puck away from the Dartmouth goal. The snow- covered ice prevented any fast playing or good team work.
PALMER AND ROGERS The two particular stars of Yale and Dartmouth who would have furnished a great battle for honors in the Carnival game if ice conditions had allowed. Here Rogers is shown checking Palmer who is attempting to pass to Luce but he is closely covered by Jeremiah.
