The annual meeting of the Association of Alumni of Dartmouth College was called to order in Room 103, Dartmouth Hall, at 2 o'clock.
The president of the Association, Nelson P. Brown '99, was in the chair. After prayer had been offered by the Rev. Charles C. Merrill '94, the minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The secretary then reported on the nomination of John R. McLane '07 as alumni trustee and the report of the balloting for alumni councilors.
The treasurer of the Association, Perley R. Bugbee, then presented his report showing the balance in the treasury of $150.49, with no disbursements for the year.
It was voted that the report of the treasurer be accepted and placed on file.
The nominating committee was then called upon for its report which was presented by Warde Wilkins '13. The following nominations for the year 1929-1930 were made: President C. G. McDavitt '00 C. W. Priddy '15 It was then VOTED: That the secretary east one ballot for the nominees as presented by the nominating committee.
Amendments to the constitution of the Alumni Council were then presented by Allan L. Priddy '15. The proposed change involved the election of six members at large in place of three as in the constitution here- tofore.
The proposed amendments were as follows: Article V: Section 2 of the constitution now reads—"The council shall consist of 25 members."
This should be changed to read—"The council shall consist of 28 members."
The 12th paragraph of the same section now reads—"Three members to be elected from the alumni at large by the members of this Council as provided for by above; one member to be elected each year for the term of three years."
This should be changed to read—"Six members to be elected from the alumni at large by the members of this Council; two such members to be elected each year for the term of three years." Following the explanation of these proposed constitutional changes it was
VOTED: That the amendments to the constitution of the Alumni Council as proposed be, and hereby are, adopted.
On motion of Mr. Priddy it was then VOTED: That the Alumni Council be given authority to put this amendment into effect by electing the additional councilors for the terms of one, two, and three years respectively, for their first terms.
Announcement was then made by the chairman that the meeting would adjourn to the Tent for the presentation of the Fiftyyear class of 1879. On reassembling at the Tent the meeting was then again called to order by President Brown, who introduced the president of 1879, Thomas W. Proctor, of Boston. Mr. Proctor responded briefly and presented the secretary of the class, Henry Melville, who acted as spokesman in introducing the members of the class to the assemblage. He spoke briefly of the career of each man present, and a few responses were made.
At the conclusion, Mr. H. B. Thayer presented a silver porringer to the first greatgrandfather in the class. Fourteen members of the class were present of twenty-two surviving graduates.
At the conclusion an opportunity was given to those present to meet the members of the class. The meeting then adjourned.
