Eugene F. Clark '01 has been on leave of absence from bis teaching and administrative duties this year. He is professor of German, editor of the ALumni Magazine, secretary of the College, and secretary of the general Alumni Association and of the Alumni Council.

Prof. A. W. Vernon established the courses in Biography at Dartmouth in 1924, when he returned to Hanover. Beginning in 1904 he held the pastorate of the White Church for several years. Prof. Vernon received his bachelor's degree from Princeton in 1891. Dartmouth gave him the honorary D.D. degree in 1907 and Colorado University awarded him the honorary degree of LL.D. in 1922. Besides his Hanover pastorate he has been minister at Hiawatha, Kans., East Orange, N. J., and Brookline, Mass.

HARRY HILLMAN needs no introduction to Dartmouth men. He has been track coach at the College since 1910 and has twice, in 1924 and 1928, served as Olympic track coach.

E. GORDON BILL is dean of freshmen and director of admissions. He is a graduate of Yale and came to Dartmouth in 1912 as assistant professor of Mathematics. He was director of military service branch of the Department of Justice in Canada, his native land, during the war.

PROF. WILBUR URBAN, who writes on the department of Philosophy in this issue, became Stone Professor of Philosophy in 1920. He had previously held faculty positions at Princeton, Ursinus, Trinity, Harvard, and Hartford Theological Seminary. He graduated from Princeton in 1895 and later took his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at the University of Leipsic.

PHILIP R. SHERMAN '28 is sports editor of the MAGAZINE and a Hanover resident. He is the Dartmouth correspondent for several metropolitan newspapers.

CRAIG THORN, JR., lives in Hudson, N. Y., and is a member of the junior class. He is prominent in Outing Club work, is a member of The Dartmouth board, and is one of Harry Hillman's track proteges.
