DEAN GHAT, author of the feature article on the new group of four buildings housing the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration and Finance, has taught at Dartmouth since receiving the degree of Master of Commercial Science from Tuck School in 1905. He was a member of the undergraduate class of 1904. In 1914 he was advanced to the rank of professor in the School. He served as secretary from 1911 to 1916, subsequently being chosen dean. As a life trustee of the College Dean Gray is active in Dartmouth affairs. He has been president of the board of trustees of the Mary Hitchcock Hospital since 1925. During the War he served the War Department as Chief of Division, Business Department, Committee on Education and Special Training.
PROFESSOR WASHBURN, class of 1910, taught French at Dartmouth in 1914 and then entered Harvard Graduate School where he received the M.A. degree before embarking upon service with A. E. F. He was commissioned and went overseas with headquarters of the 26th Division. He returned to Dartmouth in 1919 and was made an assistant professor in the department of Romance Languages in 1921. «
PHILIP S. MARDEN, editorial writer of the MAGAZINE, is known to hundreds of Dartmouth men and his writing is known to hundreds more. He is a long-time member of the Alumni Council and as such has been a leader in the development of the Dartmouth Alumni Fund. He is a member of the class of 1894.
ALEXANDER LAING holds an official position with the College as advisor to the Arts. His interest and ability in literary pursuits make him an able counselor to undergraduates who show a similar bent. His first novel, "The End of Roaming," was recently published. He is a member of the class of 1925.
PHILIP R. SHERMAN '28, sports editor of the MAGAZINE, is the dean of Hanover scribes. His current article will be followed in January by an account of the Stanford-Dartmouth game November 29 and a comparison of eastern and western football as evidenced in this game and in the contest between Southern California and Notre Dame December 6, which he will also see.
