After such a contest with Yale in which the Green's power was pretty well exhausted, Dartmouth had a soft game with Allegheny which was to cause as much discontent as if it had been an all-important contest which was thrown away. Before a stadium packed with house party guests, a crowd of 9000, the Dartmouth second and third teams trounced Allegheny 43-14, the spectators being treated to what was perhaps the worst exhibition of football ever seen on Memorial Field for such a time and event. Moreover the spectators were also treated to the sight of an Allegheny team, which played no better than high school football against the second team, score two touchdowns against a third string outfit, which marred the Green's uncrossed goal line record. The varsity were kept out of the entire game and it is not much of a hazard to guess that the score might have been well over a hundred points if they had been allowed to play.
