Following its successful jaunt into the South during spring recess, the varsity track team engaged in three dual meets during May and finished exactly even with a victory over Colgate, a defeat at the hands of Harvard, and a 63-63 tie with Army.

Harry Hillman's track and field men met Colgate at Hamilton on May 5, and won rather easily, 88 1/2 to 461/2. Captain Steve Woodbury scaled 6 feet 4 inches in the high jump for one of his best performances this season, and Bob Button swept both the 100- and 320-yard dashes. Second and third by Hine and Colton gave the Green sprinters a sweep in the 100-yard event. Dartmouth captured a majority of first places, Bob Quimby winning the mile, Dana Johnson the 2-mile, Bill Embry the high hurdles, AI Kahn the low hurdles, Dick Brister the pole vault, Bob Rodman the broad jump, Art Nissen the hammerthrow, and Sid Hooper the shot. Colgate made its best showing in the javelin event, sweeping all three places.

Harvard came to Hanover on May 12 for the annual dual meet with Dartmouth, and for the eleventh consecutive time defeated the Indians, 89% to 45%- Dartmouth last won a dual meet from the Crimson in 1911, and then by a narrow margin, 60 to 57. This year's meet was conducted in metrical distances.

* Al Hine starred for the Indians by taking both the 100- and 200-meter dashes, with Colton finishing third in the former event and Button third in the latter. Woodbury won the high jump at 6 feet 1 inch, Brister captured first in the pole vault at 13 feet, and Rodman captured Dartmouth's remaining first with a leap of 22 feet 34 inches in the broad-jump.
