Henry Blake, who for many years has been a successful coach of the Exeter football team, has resigned from that position, but continues in other activities at the Exeter Academy.
Pat Hathaway, who is attending to legislative duties in Albany this winter, has recently been made a director and vicepresident of the H. W. Briggs Company, Inc., investment brokers, at 44 Wall St., New York city.
Probably the first "D" won by a son of the class was awarded last year to Victor King's son, Victor, Jr., who is a hammer thrower. Vic has another son at Lawrenceville, who expects to enter Dartmouth next fall.
At the New York alumni dinner the class had the distinction of winning for the second time the cup presented by the class of 1879 each year to the class having the largest percentage of attendance at the dinner. Having won it in 1929, the first year that it was put up to competition, the class has the glory of having its numerals twice on the cup. There was a 43% attendance in 1929, shrinking to a 42% this year. Those present were: Ed Barker, Sam Bartlett, Pat Hathaway, George Howard, Vic King, Bill Minsch, Charlie McKendree, Mike Smith, Harry Storrs, Dick Southgate, Harry Whitaker.
Al White was recently in New York. He is still with the Brown Shoe Company, boosting the "Buster Brown" shoes. He has a three-and-one-half-year-old son, who Al says is headed for Dartmouth.
Bob Cochrane obtained some publicity recently by virtue o' being one of the examiners of Oliver Garrett, a pensioned Boston policeman who was formerly head of the Liquor and Vice Squad. The committee reported Garrett unfit for duty. The first of February, Garrett disappeared when sought in connection with the grand jury probe.
In the Sunday Herald of February 2, George Liscomb was reported as offering to the Athletic Council of the College a fourmile course on Lake Mascoma, in case rowing is taken up as a college sport. George is a director of the Mascoma Lake Development Association.
At the annual meeting of the American Society of Landscape Architects, held in Washington, D. C., January 16-18, Bremer W. Pond was elected secretary for the ensuing year.
