The freshman track team, under Harvey Cohn, bids fair to outstrip any other yearling combination in recent years. Undefeated during the winter season, the 1933 runners and field men had won from the M. I. T. freshmen by 79-20 and Andover With outdoor meets in the offing with both Andover and Exeter, the freshmen will run up against hard opposition, but they seem to be the best balanced team in years.
Led by Calvin Milans, a Washington boy, the track team numbers several men who are of varisty calibre right now. Milans himself jumped 6 feet inches to break a ten-year-old record, formerly held by LeRoy Brown, Dartmouth's Olympic jumper. The strength of the Dartmouth team vested in the hurdles seems almost of varsity strength. Waldsmith, Chapman and Voorhees up to the present time have never been passed by opponents other than their teammates. Ward Donner, brother of the Dartmouth varsity broad jumper, has leapt within two inches of Harry Worthington's record made as a freshman.
Three men, Hoffman, Degasis and Durgin, are all doing over 48 feet in the shot put; Osborne, Finfrock and Bradford are three outstanding sprinters; and Van Deusen is a man who stars in both the high and broad jumps. What better proof could one want?
