Chan and May Cox spent a pleasant two months abroad this summer, traveling through England and France.
Ralph Hunter served as health officer at Camp Manning, Gilmanton, N. H., the official Boy Scout camp for New Hampshire.
Laura Lord Scales, warden of Smith College, was the recipient of the honorary degree of L.H. D. at the 53d Commencement of Smith College last June.
The class will be saddened at the death of Josiah Minot Fowler, which occurred suddenly July 11. Fowler graduated with the class of 1900, but entered college with our class freshman year, finishing his course in three years. He was a successful lawyer in Boston, and a most loyal and generous contributor to all Dartmouth interests.
The following letter received by the Secretary soon after our 30th reunion is hereby published, that all may read the expression of the trustees in appreciation of our gifts at that time.

HANOVER, N. H.Offices of Administration
THE PRESIDENT
June twenty-five 1931
Dear Mr. Secretary: It was the desire of the Trustees at their recent meeting that formal expression be given to the class of 1901 of the gratitude of the board of trustees for the gifts commemorative of Gene Clark and of Irving French. Therefore, the Board voted:
"That the trustees record their grateful appreciation of the gifts from the class of 1901 to the College of a portrait of Eugene F. Clark, late Secretary of the College, and of a tablet placed in the Alumni Gymnasium to the memory of Irving J. French, long a member of the Athletic Council and a generous benefactor of his Alma Mater."
Needless to say, it is a source of great happiness to me to be the instrument through which this vote of the Trustees is transmitted to the class.
I am
Yours very truly, ERNEST M. HOPKINS
