To be conventional in this issue we should discuss such topics as the effect of the Christmas recess, the number of parties at which we suffered and the return to scholastic grindbut we would rather talk about all the snow we found on returning here, and the exceptional skiing conditions we have had ever since, and the fact that those of us who haven't been skiing or skating are keeping it to ourselves unless we have an Al excuse.
Sometime among our many leisure hours we are going to count the number of students in the College who do not possess skis; we would not have to count very far. Floodlights placed on the golf links on Occom Ridge add a zest to night skiing while other lights illuminate the skating of scores of enthusiasts on Occom Pond. From concentrated studying in the last minute rush of a closing semester the undergraduate snatches a daily hour of this exercise.
It is the month of winter sports. Fraternity hockey games averaging half a dozen daily keep nearly one hundred men occupied, while the several hundred members of the recreational squad are fast learning the rudiments of skiing. And all is pointing and leading up to—Carnival.
