Now, let's look at the rest. The freshman team sent up quite a few players, and some are already fighting for regular berths. Pete Mankowski, Jim Chesnulevitch and George Flagg are all good players, the second named being the brother of the famous Boston College athlete, while Flagg is the classiest looking first baseman Dartmouth has had out for some time. Only Hank Barber's swatting seems to keep him out there, for Flagg has the goods. He has three years to go, however, and Tesreau is not rushing the issue in this case. Other catchers are Ken Weeman, captain of the freshman team of 1930 and Sonny Foley, who is an old standby.
Tesreau is holding games nearly every day in this fine weather, and all the breaks were handed the boys on their return from the South. Coming out of rain and cold to Hanover, they were greeted by the warmest Spring we have seen for several years, and not one practise has been called off so far. Accordingly, crowds are gathering every afternoon on the diamond and in the stands, and baseball reigns supreme during this period.
Only the Yale game has been completed in the league series, and Dartmouth dropped that by a 9-2 score, Yale capitalizing on a bunch of Green errors and some wild pitching by young Mr. Boisseau. In subsequent games Yale has shown herself to be extremely vulnerable, and still hopes are high for a Dartmouth comeback later in the year when the two teams meet again. The month of May will tell, for league games come thick and fast, and New York alumni should be pleased at having a double header scheduled between Dartmouth and Columbia for May 16 on Baker Field. We'll be there.
A VALUABLE INFIELD The infield of the championship Dartmouth baseball team which will again seek the crown in Eastern Intercollegiate League competition. Left to right: Hank Barber of Cambridge, Mass., first base; Charles Rich of Norwood, Mass., second base; Capt. Red Rolfe of Penacook, N. H., shortstop; and Tom Eagan of Somerset, Mass., third base. Barber, Bolfe and Eagan are all veterans and Rich is a sophomore who was ineligible last year.
