"Was Lester Haws' face red?" So opens an A. P. dispatch from Ardmore, which got as far east as Boston. It seems that Les held a position as chairman of the Central Lower Merion township Republican committee, and was very busily engaged in handing out campaign buttons. Suddenly somebody excitedly showed him one of the buttons, which along with most of the others read, "Vote the Democratic Ticket."

The football season drew out a scant few at some of the earlier games. A very scattered collection was perched at the top of the stadium, section three, including the welcoming committee of Houlton, Me., Dick Ludwig, with Mrs. Ludwig, busy getting reacquainted with Tup Tupper and wife, Pinky Booth, alone, and others. Henry Hudson was in general circulation between the halves, but couldn't seem to account for many others in the class.
The gang at the Yale game was a little more numerous. May Dick Wason, who sat next to your correspondent, read this. He is hereby thanked for one package of cigarettes which were thoughtlessly carried off by 'the borrower. The coon coat and ruddy complexion are still with him. Hank Hartshorn, Stan Lonsdale, Ed Spargo, Floyd Butt, Bob Hayes, Brad Hersey, and Prenny Gallup were just a few of those near at hand. Johnny Woodbridge and Hal Springborn, also there, and two perennial neighbors (brothers-in-law as a matter of fact) started out in Brooklyn then moved jointly to Mt. Vernon. Johnny is now over in Haworth, N. J., but still in the credit department of the Irving Trust Company, New York. You can imagine that there was a minimum of greetings all around after that disheartening affair. Red Holbrook hove into sight just outside of the Bowl, and was just as reticent to talk as the rest of us.

A slip last month left out an item or two promised from Ax Coffin's letter. It seems that Frank Granata has decided to enter the consular service, and in preparation will take a course on the subject this fall. From Frank's enthusiasm it looks as though he might be gunning for Mussolini's job. Harry Holmlund has been in Chicago this past summer doing a little visiting, and though in Buffalo in the book business along with Art Grauer, has his heart set on the Far West as the place to live. Seattle used to be his home last year.
