Dean Laycock reached Minneapolis on his western tour of alumni clubs February 26. He was first entertained at an informal luncheon on that day followed by another informal gathering in the evening. The following day he was taken by Messrs. Thrall, Atwood, Loudon, and Shorty Davis (the latter being in town for the occasion of the Dartmouth dinner) to visit Shattuck Academy, a military school for boys located at Faribault. The Dean spoke to the boys at lunch, returning to Minneapolis for the annual dinner that evening at the University Club at 7:00.

There was a total attendance of 70 at this fifty-first reunion and banquet of the Northwest Dartmouth Association. Those at the speakers table included Messrs. Laycock, Thrall, Atwood, Sanborn, Newhall, Briggs, McKown, Davis, and Gates. The first speaker following the dinner was Mr. Newhall, principal of the Shattuck School, who gave interesting figures on the number of boys sent to Dartmouth from that school in recent years. He said that as early as 1876 Shattuck was sending students to Hanover. He also pointed out with pride the high scholastic standing of Shattuck boys at Dartmouth. The next speaker was John DeQ. Briggs, a Harvard man, son of the universally known Dean Briggs. He has been for some years head of the St. Paul Academy.

Dean Laycock spoke at length regarding the College, telling the men many things they were vitally interested in hearing. He offered to answer questions and was kept busy for some time after his address.
