F. H. Leggett '98, former president of the Dartmouth Alumni Council, has been elected treasurer of the Western Electric Company to succeed F. L. Gilman, who will retire on October 31, it was recently announced.

Mr. Leggett started as a clerk in the Company after graduation from Dartmouth in 1898. For seven years he held executive posts in what were then its foreign subsidiaries, being secretary of the Nippon Electric Company in Tokyo and later manager of the Bell Telephone Manufacturing Company in Antwerp. In 1909 Mr. Leggett became foreign sales manager in New York. Subsequently he had charge of the Company's business on the Pacific Coast. Since 1921 he has been in New York as one of the chief executives in the nation-wide distributing organization through which Western Electric supplies the Bell System.
