The celebration of Dartmouth Night in Hanover on Thursday evening, November 16, was held in Webster Hall, thus marking a return to the old tradition that began 38 years ago. President Hopkins, Dean Laycock, and Charles D. Adams, Emeritus Professor of Greek, were the speakers of the evening, and a musical background was supplied by the College Band and the Glee Club.
Dean Laycock acted as master of ceremonies, and spoke again as he did at the first of the Dartmouth Night celebrations in Webster Hall. Telegrams were read during the course of the program, greetings being received from Dartmouth clubs in Washington, D. C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Denver, Dallas, Tulsa, Chicago, New York City, Boston, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Detroit, and Baltimore.
A feature of the program was the initial singing by the Glee Club of "The Wind is on the Mountain," which was written by Judge Stafford of Washington, D. C. expressly for Dartmouth Night. The music was composed by Philip E. Everett '18. Other selections by the Glee Club, and football songs and cheers filled out the program.
