'Twas the night after two weeks of holiday nights and the Dartmouth Club bridge team had begun to have serious doubts as to its ability. Defeats by Yale, Princeton, Harvard, and Cornell cause Captain "T" Brown '06 to order secret practice behind locked gates. This resulted in our winning from the Columbia Club—tied at the time for the lead. Since then we have won from Pennsylvania, giving us a .333 batting average. This concludes the interclub bridge for the season, but the Club expects to hold duplicate tournaments for members every other week through the spring.
G. Harry Chamberlaine '21 won the Club squash championship after a hard elimination tournament in which he met sterling opposition from Harry C. Mills '24 (runner up), Ort Hicks 'si, Will Hays '31, and Josh Davis '27. There are about thirty active players in the Club at the present time, including Jack Hubbell '21, R. D. Webster '26, Wally Thorsen '31, W. Alexander '32, Chuck Webster '26, and positions on the team are open to challenges. Anyone wishing information about playing squash may get in touch with Chuck Webster, manager of the team, who lives at the Club.
Some of the permanent guests living at the Club at the present time are C. R. Chase '30, N. M. Bankart '29, E. A. Lavin '14, H. P. Esquerre '26, C. W. Moore '21, M. F. Johnson '21, C. H. Young '30, L. A. Stone '19, W. E. Richards '32, L. K. McElwain '18, J. A. Scanlon '11, C. D. Webster '26, R. B. Williams '27, R. D. Webster '26, R. T. Cox '33, J. C. Murray Jr. '30, T. D. Mann '32, W. E. Tucker '32, and with transient guests each night the rooms have been filled for the past several months. The "open house" on the afternoon of December 31 found a large crowd of members on the second floor sampling the Club's hospitality. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the last day of 1932 with the hope that the new year would be far different from the old one.
