Stearns is a letterman in football and boxing, and this year is playing regular guard on the varsity eleven. He is a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, Casque and Gauntlet, the Undergraduate Fire Squad and the Vigilance Committee.
Regional scholarships, awarded for a four-year period to outstanding members of the freshman class, have been announced as follows:
The William Pierce Johnson Scholarships for applicants from California have been awarded to David Balmer, of La Jolla, and Frank C. Newman, of South Pasadena. These scholarships of $700 each are based on a fund of $100,000 given by Mrs. W. P. Johnson of San Francisco as a memorial to her husband, William Pierce Johnson 'BO.
The Charles F. Booker Fund Scholarships of $500 each for applicants from Connecticut have been awarded to Allen M. Blake. Jr., of Torrington, Franklin Lynch 2d, of South Norwalk, and Karl F. Seidensteucker, of Torrington. They are based upon a fund of $123,000 given by bequest of Charles F. Brooker of Ansonia.
The Second College Grant Fund Scholarships for students from New Hampshire have been awarded to Karl A. Hill, of Littleton, and Walter A. Pazdon, of Manchester. Amounting to $500 each, they are based upon funds derived from timber cuttings on the Second College Grant, a tract of land in northeastern New Hampshire given to Dartmouth College by the State of New Hampshire in 1807.
"Dartmouth Days" M. G. M. talkie made in Hanover and Moosilauke last winter will be released to more than 7,000 theaters the end of this month. This shot shows George Cogswell '34, comedian of the picture, which was directed by Maurice Rapf '35.
