Miss Mary Lord Fairbanks, daughter of Prof. Arthur Fairbanks '86, has completed four pen-and-ink drawings of Dartmouth scenes. One of these, a sketch of the old bridge over the Connecticut, appears in this issue of the MAGAZINE together with appropriate verse by Edwin Frost 'go, eulogizing the ancient structure in its final months of existence.
Miss Fairbanks has caught the atmosphere of the subjects of her excellent drawings. She has been a resident of Hanover and is a frequent visitor in town. This may explain the unusual subtlety of her bold strokes which portray familiar and characteristic Dartmouth scenes with something more than skillful artistry. The four subj ects of her drawings are: Ledyard Bridge, 1900 Outing Club House, Bartlett Tower, and Dartmouth Hall. Through an arrangement with several bookstores the artist has published her work in the form of Christmas greeting cards. They may be purchased from the College bookstore in Hanover.
