On Saturday, February 10, the Dartmouth Club of Dayton held a dinner at the Hotel Van Cleve honoring Coach Blaik. There was a very good turn-out of the local alumni and from surrounding cities in the Miami Valley, as well as a large delegation from Cincinnati. H. W. Newell '20 acted as toastmaster.
Speakers on the program in addition to Earl H. Blaik were Dr. George Goodhue '76 who gave an interesting resume of athletics in his time at College; he was followed by Oscar Scharrer '13 and Willard E. Matteson '31 who carried the theme through their respective times in Hanover.
Blaik's talk was mainly about his side of the various conferences he attended with the Athletic Council prior to his selection as coach, and his enthusiasm regarding athletic policies and the evident spirit at the College. He revealed very little in the way of his own policies at Dartmouth.
The alumni of Dayton, Coach Blaik's home town, were glad to have the opportunity to provide him with his initial contact with the alumni in the role of speaker.
