With the tabulation of Dartmouth's basketball and swimming records in this section, Ford H. Whelden '25, Alumni Council member from Detroit, continues to bring up to date the athletic statistics which he inaugurated last month in connection with football. Hockey and winter sports results will be recorded in the April issue of the MAGAZINE.
Mr. Whelden's charts indicate that Dartmouth has played consistently good basketball since 1920-21, when the Green five finished second in the Eastern Intercollegiate League race. In league competition during the past fourteen years, and against Harvard, the new member of the league, Dartmouth has been victorious in 88 contests and the loser in 66.
The Green court team has held a distinct advantage over Yale, Harvard, and Columbia, and has been on practically even terms with Princeton, Pennsylvania, and Cornell. One championship, five second places, and four thirds are included in the standings of the thirteen preceding seasons.
The swimming charts below show that the Yale jinx is as potent in swimming as in football, Dartmouth having yet to defeat the Blue tank team. The Green swimmers have made their best showing against Brown, Pennsylvania, Columbia and Army.
