The following extract is from a letter of G. R. Clark, Davenport, lowa, bearing date of December 19, 1933. "It may surprise you to hear that Mrs.Clark and I took a motor trip East this lastsummer. We had never made any long tour, and I was quite a little nervous abouttackling such a trip at our age, but we gotthrough with it just fine. We drove toWindsor, Vt., and made our headquartersthere for about eight weeks. Mrs. Clark wasborn in Windsor. You can imagine howanxious I was to see Hanover. We wentthere six or seven times, and spent most ofthe day there each time. We drove up onthe old hill under the shade of someyounger pines and cooked and ate our dinner within thirty feet of the old pine stumpand the tower erected to its memory. Werambled about the old granite bouldersand hunted for small garnets, just as Iused to do in '72 and '75.

"We visited everywhere in reasonabledriving distance from Windsor and hadthe time of our lives."
