IN MEMORIAM
April 1934 S. C. H.

Forever boys! By tragedy kept young!Nor weak nor suffering, with none to weep,They left their books and games in quietsleep

Who soon to manhood's stature would havesprung,

Had not death's curfew unexpected rung. For them no heat of day, no climbing steep,No harvest which ambition hopes to reap,So boyish was their swan song early sung.

From youth's exuberance undimmed howstrange

To wake within a world which still hadseemed

"Event far off," mirage whose gloriesgleamedUpon the eyes of age alone; to changeAccustomed ways of boyhood still so dearFor wonders far beyond the dream of seer!
