ANNOUNCEMENT BY E. E. Martin '19. . chairman of the Alumni Council Committee on Class Gifts, reveals many classes conducting campaigns this fall to promote their plans for substantial gifts at their 25th reunions. For example, under the leadership of Kenneth B. Hurd '23 the class of 1923 has established a quota of $25,000 and is making an initial appeal this fall to secure a portion of it.
Another class in the early 1920's has secured a pledge from one of its members to match up to a sum of $5,000 the total that all other members of the class contribute over $15,000. They feel that this is going to insure their securing a total of at least $25,000 by the time of their 25th reunion.
The Alumni Council considers no project launched in recent years equal to the importance of 25th reunion gifts. There is great advantage among younger classes in starting Memorial Funds which may accrue over a period of years to total gifts of $25,000 or more at the 25th reunion. Plans for collection of funds should be worked out among class officers to be sure that campaigns do not conflict with the Alumni Fund.
At the Alumni Council meeting in Boston, November 12, progress will be reported on the entire project of 25th reunion . gifts. Correspondence is invited with Mr. Martin, 180 Varick St., New York City, or S. C. Hayward, Secretary of the Alumni Council, Hanover, N. H., on questions relating to this most important project of Dartmouth alumni.
