Seventeen suffers another severe loss in the death of Joseph Myer. I know everyone remembers well the color, life, and enthusiasm he gave to us during his college years, but many of you may not know what Joe has accomplished since leaving Dartmouth. His inherent vigor and energy carried him far and high into a field that may be surprising to you, as it certainly was to me; namely, the organization and development of the School of Commerce at St. John's University of which he was appointed the first dean. (See Necrology.)

Rog Stone thoughtfully sent us a report of the annual Boston pretzel party and smoker held at the Copley Plaza, April 2. From his description of the party and entertainment, Boston fairly outdid itself, and the Seventeen representation was quite complete with the old reliables out in front —Sunny Sanborn, George Currier, Spike Maclntyre, Will Fitch, Bunny Holden, Sam McKillop, Eddie McGowan, Pete Olds, and Rog Stone,—which to my mind is enough to make a party all by themselves (and probably did).

Ray Collerd reports a change of address for Jack Baer, who is now with Hall, Glockler, and Prost in the furniture business at 146 Front St., San Francisco.

From Reycroft we learn that he is sales manager of the Bassick Company, manufacturers of automobile and furniture hardware. Ray expresses hearty accord and support for the Alumni Fund, but pleads ignorance of the Active Class Group idea. As he must have heard from Don Brooks long before this, ignorance will prove no bliss to him unless he joins the active crew right smartly. Outside of business he plays golf and bridge as a minor recreational activity next to his main job of fathering two girls, Johanne and Janice, respectfully six and three years old.

Speaking of the Active Group, we are now ready to publish the first list of active members of 1934-35, so far consisting of forty men:

D. B. Aldrich S. B. Emerson R. P. Stone V. K. Smith Wm. Sewall H. G. Fowler W. W. Walters A. B. Gile D. Richmond E. E. Robie S. G. Whiton R. H. Baxter A. O. Duhamel R. D. Scott R. Sanborn F. W. Gates G. E. Clark H. W. Holt G. L. Richardson L. G. Nourse

H. Carr H. A. Friedrichs K. G. Stillman C. M. Gilmore D. R. Haggerty M. D. Brown C. A. Steiger C. R. O'Neill D. L. Harris E. W. McGowan D. H. Norton A. H. Knowlton E. D. Towler L. L. Doty R. M. Chase A. P. Maclntyre N. E. McCulloch I. I. Green K. L. Thielscher D. Brooks

The total- for last year barely reached sixty; we can feel that a nucleus of forty at this time is a good start, but only a start, as a minimum of one hundred is the goal Don Brooks is shooting for.
