Portuguese Offered

A new course in elementary Portuguese will be offered next September for the first time by the Department of Romance Languages. It will be taught by Professor S. G. Patterson.

The course in Portuguese, one of the few offered by institutions of higher learning, will deal with the usual elementary language requirements of pronunciation, grammar, composition and reading. Through the use of modern novels, newspapers, and magazines, it is hoped to introduce the student to the actual life, problems, and international positions of Portugal and Brazil. The new course may not be begun the same year as Spanish or Italian, both of which are offered by the Department of Romance Languages.
