The annual meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Newton was held at the Woodland Golf Club on April 5, and was attended by some 60 or 70 persons, comprising graduates and young men from Newton planning to enter Dartmouth. The Rev. Bovnton Merrill '15, who was president of the organization this year, handled the meeting excellently, with the result, I feel sure, that a most favorable impression was created upon the young men who came as our guests. Charles R. Cabot '12 was the principal speaker of the evening, and Arthur Noble '34 gave an interesting account of the Newton boys who are now at Hanover, as well as of other Hanover events. Following these talks, the College movies were shown and we then retired for beer and crackers. All in all, it was one of the most enthusiastic meetings the Club has ever held.
As an innovation by the nominating committee, the Club will not have the usual officers during the coming year but will have a committee of four to direct its affairs. Members of this new committee are Stanley H. Lyon '24, Edward H. Learnard '24, Alfred R. Crampton '22, and Rupert C. Thompson Jr. '2B. "Ted" Learnard was responsible for this new plan and, I believe, has in mind bringing our organization more actively into line with the present selective process.
