Much of this month's relayings are quoted verabtim from Carey "The President" Heckman: "It seems about time to write to you. Although, frankly speaking, neither the quantity nor the quality of news I can report amounts to very much."
Usually that is exactly what the situation is, but this month we are a little more fortunate.
Chip Abrahamsen reported that PeterFriedensohn married Patricia Hopkins (Holy Cross '77) on October 7 in Rollins Chapel in Hanover. Those attending included David Friedensohn '83 (best man), Jackie Bello, Tomand Debbie Parnon (reviewed in last issue's gossip column), Mark '"Hand It Over" Mullan, and Chip. A boisterous celebration followed at the DOC Lodge on Occom Pond. Peter and Pat will graduate from Dartmouth Med School this June. Husband-and-wife .doctors' practice? Who makes the house calls? Could be a great soap opera. Wedding-goer (and goner?) and future doctor Mark Mullan is doing work at the Carney Hospital in Boston as he awaits gradua- tion from Tufts Med School in June.
"The event which spurs me to wipe the dust off my stationery," wrote Carey, "is my recent marriage to Ann 'Rooney' Mayberry on October 6 in Rochester, N.Y. Attending the bridegroom at the wedding were best man Bob Deason, Goose "Will You Marry Me" Gleason, Rick Mayberry '75, and Tom Meigs '75, '76, '77. . . . Attending the bar at the reception were John "Foul All You Democrats" Reidy, TomDraths '74 and '76, Al Fishbein, Joe Gleason '77, "The Honorable" Thomas Barnico '77, and Christy "No Thanks, Goose" Hazer '78. Rooney and I left town before the bail notices were posted and spent a week in St. Thomas.
Carey escaped the Chicago wilderness by graduating from Northwestern University's School of Law. After taking the California bar exam, he is clerking for Judge Tamm of the D.C. circuit. He said that the Washington Dart- mouth Club's October luncheon was a huge success, with '76 notables such as Paul Cane,Lyn Johnson, and Gary Slack present. Carey reported that "Paul Cane is making his presence known here in Washington,. By day, he is a star law clerk to Judge Carl McGowen '32; by night well, this is a family magazine. Paul will clerk for Justice Powell next year and continue to enjoy all Washington has to offer."
Randy White's wedding last April was clearly the highlight of the spring, and Raleigh, N.C., demonstrated its best weather. David and LeeAnn Disharoon Tolzmann and Peter Threadgill '77 were in attendance. Randy is working for General Mills in the Minneapolis area, where he and his wife have purchased a house.
Brian Fuld is working the Hollywood lots and sound stages. Chris Davidson is guarding the morals of soap-opera America. Al Golden has settled down to a quasi-family life as an M.D., Ph.D. academician at Michigan. Tom "Judge" Bush currently operates out of exciting Wilmington, Del., as a law clerk for Chief Judge Seitz of the third circuit. Chuck Reach of Middle Fayer fame is deep into his third year at Virginia Law and his second law review comment. Ken Norman, seen during the unpredictable but not exciting Harvard-Dartmouth weekend, is assistant director of financial aid at Dartmouth. Congrats, Ken. Dave Shribman is working for the Buffalo Evening News and penning a piece on the history of Dartmouth football. Not this year's, I imagine.
An interesting bit of info on Yale Club stationery stated that Paul Bastek works for the Australian Embassy in East Berlin: "He's a very interesting and knowledgeable young man. As any older alumnus would guess, he's finding that there are Dartmouth alumni and alumnae almost everywhere he travels." Regards to Don McKinlay '37, who passed along this news.
