One of the awards for the "best" alumni magazine in the country was given to the Dartmouth MAGAZINE by the committee of judges of the American Alumni Council in its report at the annual convention, this year held at Skytop, Penn., in April. The California Monthly, characterized by the judges as modern and daring, received first place. The excerpt of the report, given by W. S. Gibson of the U. of Minnesota, awarding second place to Dartmouth follows:
"The committee displayed a variety ofjudgment in making the second placeaward by jumping from the daring to theultra conservative in selecting the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE. This about faceis more than justified when one considersthe entire magazine. Dartmouth speaks toyou from every page. The illustrationsare of a free, personal and instructionaltype. The typography is conservative andpleasing. The page lay-outs are somewhatunusual and are varied enough to hold thereader's interest. From cover to cover thegeneral effect is one of distinction andDartmouth."
