MENTION OF THE MAGAZINE, modestly placed at the end of the "Dartmouth Book Shelf" desiderata, involves the subscription campaign now being carried on by secretaries of alumni classes and clubs and directed by Natt W. Emerson '00, business manager. Mr. Emerson "retired" to Hanover a year ago. He states that he is about as busy now as he ever was in business. Guidance of circulation and advertising matters for the MAGAZINE is only one of his several voluntary duties.
The aim is to secure 7,000 subscribers by November 1 and to equal (if not exceed!) the Alumni Fund record of contributors for last year. It would be very pleasant and most encouraging if subscriptions should pour in after simply notifying subscribers that $2.50 for next year is due. Inertia, which "4 out of 5 have" and the other one is susceptible, accounts, we like to think, for the fact that a campaign is necessary to build the number of subscribers to a good percentage of the alumni body. Those who read these lines, nearly all being subscribers, might locate one of the "4" whose inertia is pronounced and urge him to send in his subscription.
