ON SATURDAY, February 26, 1910, Dartmouth's newly organized OutingClub held its first "field day," spectators and contestants meeting in a body at the Golf Barn on Main St. and proceeding to Dewey's Hill near the Vale of Tempe . . . . 300 spectators enjoyed the program which included ski jumping for style and distance, 100-yard dashes on skis and snowshoes, 220yard dash on skis, interclass snowshoe relay race, and cross country on skis and snowshoes .... A. T. Cobb '12 won ski jump with 45 ft., 2 in., the 100 and all of the other events excepting 100-yard snowshoe dash (won by Hoi way '12) and snowshoe cross country (won by W. T. Jones '12) ... . 1912 won relay race .... other point winners were: 1910, A. H. Lord; 1911, F. H. Harris, J. J. Boynton, C. A. Jenkins; 1912, G. W. Wheeler, T. P. Miller, H. H. French, L. P. Warren, H. B. Van Dyne, B. B. Lyons; 1913, V. C. Shellenberg.
Basketball team with Capt. Brady, Mullen, Hart, Gibson, Jones, Mensel, Hoban, Dingle, won from M. I. T., 31-17; Cornell, 32-11; Wesleyan, 35-25; Yale, 30-19; Alumni, 38-14; Syracuse, 30-18; lost to Williams, 21-23; Wesleyan, 15-32- The hockey club with Doe, Marston, Wells, S. Eaton, F. Eaton, Patten, Norris, Stucklen, Bullard lost to Princeton, 1-5; Harvard, 0-5; Yale, 3-5; won from Columbia, 3-0.

Lyon, G. M. Morris, W. C. Shaw, C. E. Snow, W. E. Tucker, with C. L. Harris and R. B. Seymour as alternates . . . . Dramatic Club presented "A Gold Mine" with following players, J. R. Everett, A. C. Keough, S. P. Tuck, J. R. Erwin, A. S. Dunning, F. C. Batchelor, J. E. Warren, H. H. Semmes, S. Pishon .... a very notable gathering headed by President Taft, Speaker Jos. Cannon, Ambassadors Bryce and Jusserand, Dr. Alexander Bell, Hon. Samuel W. McCall and numerous others in high official life welcomed President Nichols at the Annual Banquet of Dartmouth's Washington Alumni Assn.
Seniors Chas. J. Fay, John H. Finn, Harry O. Sandberg, Maynard C. Teall, Ernest W. Unangst and Ben Ames Williams completed their requirements for a degree at mid-year in 1910 but remained in College for the second semester .... Bill Randall '96 elected football coach . . . . Nate Sherman '10 won 40-yard dash at B. A. A. Games for Dartmouth's only first .... Mr. Perkins, White River Jet. automobilist, offers for sale a "Buick touring car, equipped with top, 34 in. wheels, 314 in. tires, side curtains, windshield, robe rail, five lamps, generator, horn, magneto, ever-ready speedometer and clock combined, detachable rims, 5 extra shoes and tubes, holder, casing cover, emergency brake, painted red, in fine shape."
Winter Smoketalks included Victor's Band, Rabbi Wise, Wm. Lyon Phelps of Yale, S. S. McClure of "McClure's," Walter Prichard Eaton, Donald B. McMillan and Lyman Howe's "motion pictures," among the latter being "The Aeroplane Races" in France, the authenticity of which was questioned until the pictures were shown, it being the general consensus of opinion that such races in the air were impossible.
Conrad and Leslie Snow were ill with measles at the White River Tavern .... Dean Emerson fractured his elbow by a fall on the ice .... at 22nd Reg. "Olympic Games" in New York, Nat Sherman '10 running from scratch made a new World's Record of 7% sees, for 60-yard indoor dash .... other point winners were Jack Marks 'n, Chan Baxter 'lO and C. A. P. Duffie 'll.
