GENEROSITY OF ALUMNI DONORS

For the men who, by their loyalty and generosity have made this new addition possible, we are deeply grateful. Basil O'Connor 12, the leader, has always responded when Dartmouth called. James Mathes '11 and Frank Drake '02 are already active on the commitee studying the social problems of the College, while Lewis Parkhurst '78 and A. O. Brown '78 have waxed old in the service of the College as trustees, benefactors, and tireless workers. Judge McLane is the "out-of-door" trustee of the College. To his.steady guidance and to Dan Hatch's ceaseless energy, Dartmouth College owes much. In both winter and summer Moosilauke will becom more and more a Dartmouth playground, and what a playgroun it will be.

INTERSPERSED WITH the regular mountain climbing trips this spring, we have witnessed many weekly excursions to Mt. Washington to take advantage of the fairly good spring skiing and a series of very popular canoeing trips on the White River and Lake George. So the pleasure trips go. On the more serious side of the Club's spring program have been the trail bushing and the cabin repair trips—the "work" trips—led by the new freshman members of Cabin and Trail. The new lookout tower has been completed on Smart's Mountain out of timber cut last spring. This work has been the chief piece of construction during the year and it represents the combined efforts of many members of the Club. Bill Niss '36 supervised the job.

At the recent Annual Convention of the Intercollegiate Outing Club Association, held at Breadloaf, Vermont, under the auspices of the Middlebury College Mountain Club, Dartmouth was represented by Bill Niss '36, Will Brown '37, and Bob Manegold '38. We say that these men did represent us at the convention, but we couldn't swear to it, for there was a rumor that Bill s famous Packard touring craft broke down just outside of White River.
