As a preamble to this year's notes, I would like to state that all class notes must be in the hands of the printer on the tenth of the month preceding the issue date, i.e., this is being written on September 8 and will appear, I hope, in the issue normally received by subscribers the first week in October. This may explain why some of my notes may sound out of season, for example, when you read this the football season will be well under way, but the only item at hand relative to football is that the "Twenty Club of New England" will hold a stag dinner at the Boston University Club the night before the Harvard game. After the game arrangements are under way for a mixed dinner party and dance, supplemented by "Doc" Miller's movies of our 15th reunion and a more recent reunion in Worcester (see cut and following paragraph).

On June 7, an event transpired which has all the earmarks of an annual affair, and judged by the initial attempt will be a "beaut." Charlie and Ann Crathern were hosts at a "steak roast and spring picnic" at their private grove near Worcester. Twenty-six couples were present, and Charlie McGoughran told me that it was the best '2O function, with the possible exception of reunions, that he ever attended. Paul Richter tells me that plans are all ready made for next June and we're all invited.

The group of Twenty men at last Commencement was rather small, but in spite of it we had a fine time. Bowen, Spenc Snedecor, McGoughran, a few of our "Townies," myself, and Pab Sample helped '2l put things across. Of course, Pab was the man of the hour, as the College honored him with a Master of Arts degree.

I find it difficult to express my feelings about the death of three members of the class: Spence Blake, Bert Cueva, and Mickey Wilson. In fact there is nothing I am able to write which seems to adequately express the grief of the class. Due to a lack of detail this time I have deferred the Necrology notice regarding Spence's death until later.
