THE ANNUAL DARTMOUTH alumni dinner for New York and vicinity was held Thursday evening, February 27, at the Commodore Hotel. There were exactly 500 present for the dinner and many others came after dinner making the attendance the largest in recent years. John A. Weser '28 and his committee in charge of attendance composed of H. B. Gilmore 'Ol, J. W. Knibbs '05, E. G. Pratt '06, Collin Wells '13, E. D. Towler '17, C. B. Singleton '26, G. E. Kennedy '29, and D. T. Hedges '34 were responsible for the large turnout. The class of 1906, through the efforts of E. B. Redman, won the cup for the class having the largest percentage of its members in this district present at the dinner with 16 out of 17 attending—a 1906 ringer, Donald McIntire, came from Chicago to give the class a perfect "paper" record. The class of '08 were second with a 47% attendance, while '09 finished third with 46%.
The invocation was given by Rev. Arthur S. Wheelock '14, a descendant of Eleazar Wheelock. Next on the program were a few popular songs by the Seven G's and a bit of comedy by Charles McNaughton, better known as "Bottle" on Phil Baker's Good Gulf radio program. Mr. Nathan C. Lenfestey '13 was then presented with a silver tray from the Board of Governors of the Club in appreciation for his services as treasurer for the past ten years. The program was climaxed by two excellent speeches; one by Prof. William A. Eddy, recently elected president of Hobart College, and the other by President Hopkins. Sigurd S. Larmon '14, president of the club, presided at the dinner.
