Momentum from our record-breaking golden jubilee performance continued this year as our class contributed $109,000 or 109 percent of the dollar objective to the 1988 Alumni Fund and gained first place in Group IV of the Green Derby. Dana S. Prescott in his first year as head agent is to be congratulated for an outstanding performance. Backing up Dana was our man in Hanover, Lem Bowen. Bob Bosworth, who is recovering from surgery in Florida, and was chairman of the Alumni campaign a few years ago was pleased to see us go over the top. Bob and Martha are planning to see us at the mini-reunion on September 16-17.
C. Everett Koop, surgeon general of the United States, was selected by the senior class of Colby College as commencement speaker. An honorary degree was conferred on him by Colby President William R. Cotter. Chick was also the commencement speaker at Colby-Sawyer College, New London, N.H. He told the graduating class, "It would behoove you to arrive in the golden years in the best shape you possibly can."
Ben Doran was elected chairman of the Montclair chapter of the American Red Cross at the annual meeting in May.
Your secretary and wife, Carolyn, enjoyed an exciting safari to Kenya in March. A safari is a trip any good outing clubber would like. Beautiful scenery, high mountains, thousands of animals elephants, lions, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, cheetah, rhino, wildebeest, impala, topi, hyena, and more. It's a paradise for photography and bird watching. No hunting allowed. A highlight of the safari was a hot-air balloon ride over the Mara River followed by a champagne breakfast. Any classmate desiring more information, ask us or Lem and Elizabeth who also visited Kenya on safari in March.
The new class directory is being printed by the Milford Press (Bill Rotch) and should be received by you by August. Please send us your comments and corrections for our records.

Fran and Mary Fenn are involved with Fran selling tickets and Mary supervising. The Erdmans and Johannessens are going to journey across the Connecticut on August 6 to sample the best beans in Vermont.
