THE ANNUAL DINNER of the Dartmouth Club of Cleveland was held at the University Club on Monday, March 30. Dean Neidlinger was the principal speaker and we hope he will return in the same capacity very soon. The other imported speaker, Jim Hamilton '22, superintendent of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, will later this year make Cleveland his home. He has been appointed Superintendent of the Cleveland City Hospital.

Retiring President, Ed Malz '19, introduced the speakers which included Doug Gorton '24, the new president of the club. A letter was read purporting to be from the Cunard Line bewailing the fact that the annual banquet in Cleveland again found Henry McK. Haserot '10 on board one of their liners. Hank Haserot, an active Dartmouth alumnus in Cleveland, celebrates during the entire trip when this situation occurs. Other ex-presidents of the Club present included Cedric Wellsted 'O9, Bob Stecher '19, and Jim Irwin '11. This pack of retired officialdom did their best with plain and fancy heckling to make the local speakers look as silly as they probably did when they were in office. This has become an honored profession in Cleveland.

Akron sent its ambassadors without portfolio, Paul Bloom '18, and Jack Slabaugh '18, who customarily clean a pair of fish after each banquet at bridge. Neither one of the Newcomb brothers, Chester '12 nor Nelson '24, could attend. Nelson was in Chicago where he starred on his indoor polo team which won the western junior championship.

Following Dean Neidlinger's fine speech, Bud Petrequin '25 led a wah-hoo-wah for "Pudge" and scheduled features of the program drew to a close. The banquet committee included George Fisher '30, Nelson Ranney '30, and Russ Treadway '24.
