Five new courses will be offered at Dartmouth during the academic year 1936-37. They include two semester courses in Biography, a semester course in History, a semester course in Philosophy, and a year course in Romance Civilizations.
The new Biography courses will deal with "Representative Patriots" and with "Representative Autobiographies" and will be taught, respectively, by Dr. Arthur M. Wilson and Professor Donald Bartlett '24. History 37, taught by Professor Frank M. Anderson, will treat "Europe Since 1920" with particular emphasis on Fascism, Nazism, and Sovietism. Philosophy 3, taught by Professor Maurice Picard and Professor A. Myrton Frye, is entitled "Nature and Man," while Romance Civilizations 15-16, taught by Dr. Alberto Vazquez, will deal with "Spanish Culture and Civilization." Romance Civilizations courses dealing with representative French authors and with Dante were introduced last year as the start of this new branch of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures.
