EARLY IN MAY, with a grand turnout of some 40 people, Dartmouth in St. Louis carried off successfully its annual Spring Picnic at the summer cottage of W. Clark Schmidt '33, at Chatauqua, Illinois. Dartmouth wives and sweethearts were swayed with emotion, as when the moon dropped behind the great Mississippi, the assembled brothers closed the day with Dartmouth Undying. (The next picnic will be held in September!)
At the recent smoker held at Harry Decker's home we learned that seven applicants for the class of 1940 had been accepted from St. Louis and vicinity. To date this makes a total of seventy-three freshmen that have entered Dartmouth from Missouri since 19^5.
Though the official monthly smokers end this month, nevertheless, a group of us will be meeting each Saturday noon throughout the summer. We hope those alumni who are vacationing en route through Missouri, will pay us a visit.
