The round-up on the night before the Harvard game, or shall we call it deluge, was attended by fourteen enthusiastic 1903 men, who enjoyed not alone the usual fine dinner served at the Boston City Club but the rare treat of the bantering back and forth of classmates, an extensive discussion of plans for the reunion in June, predicting the score for the game, in which pastime Vic Cutter came nearest the actual score with a prediction of Dartmouth 20-Harvard 0, and finally the pledging of fourteen men to serve as a committee to induce others to return for Commencement. With Vic at the helm, certain plans were revealed which will insure one of the finest reunions 'O3 has ever held. Already nineteen men have signified their intentions of being in Hanover. Those present at the round-up were Fred Baker, Vic Cutter, Meat Hanlon, Phil Jones, Bob McGowan, Brutus Luce, Dick Brown, O. W. Smith, Harry Watson, Artie Bolster, Ned Kenerson, Hamlin Bennett, Prex Whelden, and Ned Burbeck. A. K. Smith mislaid his postcard notifica-the University Club, and later sent his apologies and regrets. Better luck next time, A. K.
In a recent letter from Bob Davis there is evidence of his real enjoyment in his temporary work at Middlebury College. He speaks of riding over to Hanover of a Sunday morning to fill the pulpit in "thenew edition of Pa Leeds' white church," predicts his return to France in January to look after a property quite devastated by refugees from the Spanish border and to see his children, who are in school in France. Here's hoping Bob will be back again in June.
The passing of Jake Smith removes from us a most loyal classmate and enthusiastic Dartmouth graduate. Jake's success in the educational field has been of a high order and well merited. Only last August at Vic Cutter's picnic, Jake told me of his recent work at Poultney, Vt., evidencing his keenest interest. The class extends to Cornelia and her son its heartfelt sympathy.
Ned and Charlotte Kenerson, Clayton and Cora Erwin, and Edwin Daniels attended the funeral. Flowers were sent in the name of the class.
Mr. and Mrs. William Hand Woolverton announce the marriage of their daughter Virginia to Mr. John Lewis Hawn on Saturday, the thirtieth of October, 1937, at Birmingham, Ala. Virginia graduated from Goucher College in Baltimore in 1934 with honors, and is the second daughter to leave the parental hearth for a life of marital happiness. Billy, the youngest of the family, is now in college.
The class has one son in the freshman class of this year, Robert K. Hess, son of Harold of Bronxville, N. Y. Thanks, Harold, for keeping our record clear. Next year Prex Whelden's youngest, now a senior at Newton High School, will keep up the old traditions.
