Secretaries of alumni clubs and associations have been notified that certain positions on the Alumni Council will become vacant in June. According to constitutional provisions the nominations for these places will be made by alumni clubs in the six council districts of the country but there is also a means of submitting nominations from any group of one hundred or more alumni. This latter possibility is explained below.
After nominations are received by the secretary of the Alumni Association in Hanover mail ballots for election will be sent to all graduates of more than three years' standing in the districts where more than one nominee is running for a Council vacancy.
In the New England States district William B. Slater '1 of Providence completes a term of one year, having been appointed to finish the unexpired term of Dr. Ruggles '02 who resigned last year to accept election to the Board of Trustees. (Mr. Slater may be nominated for a first term in his own right.)
In the Middle Atlantic States district Morton B. French '13 of New York City completes his first term of office and is therefore eligible for re-election from this district.
In the Central States district William D Knight 'OB of Rockford, Illinois, completes his first term of office and is therefore eligible for re-election from this district.
In the Middle Western States district Luther S. Oakes '99 of Minneapolis completes his first term of office and is therefore eligible for re-election from this district.
In the Southern States district Allen C. Gottschaldt '18 of Atlanta completes his first term of office and is therefore eligible for re-election from this district.
In the Rocky Mountain and PacificStates district Robert E. More '13 of Denver will complete his second term of office and is not eligible for re-election.
According to Article V, Section 3, of the Alumni Council constitution, nominations beyond those submitted by approved alumni clubs may be made as follows:
The Secretary of the General Association of Alumni shall publish in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE not later than the February issuea statement of the vacancies, if any, to befilled the ensuing July 1. In addition to themethod of making nominations throughlocal alumni clubs and associations as explained above, it will be possible for anygroup of 100 alumni qualified, to vote inthe Alumni Council election of that yearto petition the Secretary in favor of aproperly qualified nominee, the petitionto carry the endorsement of the candidatewhose name will then appear on the election ballot of that district. Such nominations must be received by the Secretary ofthe General Association not later thanApril 10.
