Somewhat coincidental with distribution of this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE, the first of seven Tuck Management Seminars will take place in Minneapolis. As announced in the January issue, these seminars—one in Minneapolis, one in New York, and five in Hanover—will cover a broad range of subjects, giving alumni the opportunity to be brought up to date on current teachings and to delve into curriculum areas covered at the School. For a quick refresher, we list pertinent information below:
March 4-5, Minneapolis: Financial Management: Concepts and Innovations; April 25-28, Hanover: New Approaches to Marketing Planning; May 5-8, Hanover: Financial Management: Concepts and Innovations; May 6, New York: Using the Computer in Marketing Planning; May 21-25, Hanover: Improving Task Group Effectiveness; June 6-9, Hanover: "Hands On" Experience with Time-Shared Computing; June 23-25, Hanover: New Trends in Professional Consulting.
The Mid-West was busy with alumni affairs in both February and March. Minneapolis held its premier meeting on February 17, closely followed by the Management Seminar noted above. Chicago opened its acitvities with a meeting on February 10 with Dean Hennessey as the main speaker and is planning a second meeting on March 6 with Professors Dick Bower and Ron Wippern on hand to discuss various topics in finance.
An interesting report was received recently from Byron Davis T'24 who has retired from a business career which included executive positions in both manufacturing and banking, work on community projects, and fifteen years' experience as president and trustee of the Village of River Forest, Ill. Mr. Davis, with his wife, Dorothy, recently returned from El Salvador, Central America, where he spent over two months on an assignment from International Executive Service Corps (IESC). There he helped a developing manufacturer to adjust to, and add procedures to cope with, the problems of a fast growing business. IESC is a non-profit corporation financed by contributions from many corporations and individuals which sends seasoned business executives on short-term assignments abroad to counsel companies which have requested assistance on management and technical problems. Though non-paid, Mr. Davis reports that this was one of the most gratifying experiences of his long career.

John was with Arthur Andersen and Company in Minneapolis before joining this company which manufactures snowmobiles and other recreational equipment. William DuschatkoT'67 is the new director of financial management and planning at Leggat, McCall & Werner Inc., a Boston-based industrial and commercial real estate firm. Bill first joined the First National Bank of Boston upon graduation from Tuck and later moved to Logitron, Inc. as vice president before joining his present firm.
George Barton T'66 has been named assistant vice president at Worcester County National Bank in Worcester, Mass. He will be in charge of the bank's operations department. John Cunning-ham T'66 has been promoted to manager of marketing services for Wang Laboratories. Inc. in Massachusetts. In his new position, John will be responsible for sales support and promotion.
The last item in the news basket concerns three members of the class of 1970 who have made impressive progress at Toro Manufacturing Corporation in Minneapolis. George Fulton has been named product manager, consumer division, Norman Harris III been appointed financial analysis manager, and Craig Tanner has joined the corporate development staff as a market research analyst. In addition to rapid progress in business, George Fulton has fronted the group which has organized the Twin Cities Tuck Alumni Association, so the Hanover ties remain strong.
Best regards from the hills.
