A coast-to-coast broadcast from the Dartmouth campus will go out over the Red Network of the National Broadcasting Company on Friday evening, February 26, from 10:30 to 11 P.M., eastern standard time. The half-hour program of undergraduate talent will be part of the "Varsity Show" series of college broadcasts which the Pontiac Motor Company is sponsoring over 68 stations. The Dartmouth broadcast will be the sixth of the series, following those from Michigan, Chicago, Ohio State, Columbia, and Pennsylvania.
The program will originate in Webster Hall and will follow the traditional Dartmouth Night exercises, which have been scheduled for the same evening in order that alumni groups throughout the country can receive directly from Hanover the broadcast of college songs, orchestral numbers, and dramatic skits which is being arranged. The association of the two events will also permit the maximum number of students to be present at the broadcast.
A special committee of musical, dramatic and administrative directors is working with the radio producers in preparation of the script. Tentative plans call for the Glee Club, the Band, the Barbary Coast Orchestra, the College Quartet, a dramatic presentation of Dartmouth's history, a student forum on current topics, two dramatic sketches, and a specialty number.
