JACKO SHOWS NEW TREND

The Carnival issue of Jack-o-Lantern already shows traces of an influence that threatens to raise it above the level of "Dartmouth's comic monthly." With a cover that should have made the Pictorial envious (except that the Pic also has a skiing cover) showing a skier in mid-air with clouds of powder snow, Jacko included eight pages of skiing pictures with an exceptionally good layout. A week after publication, in announcing the new competition for freshmen and sophomores, it again mentioned the time-worn list of "Many well-known artists who received their early training working for Jacko." Among the old standbys, Dr. Seuss, Cory Ford, Abner Dean and Charles O'Neill, is now added the name of William Klingaman '36. Bill Klingaman has arrived.
