ACTIVITIES IN THE promotion of the annual meeting in May have had an early start this year. State President Whit Gowrie '24, plans committee and club meetings of the New Haven group during April. In the meanwhile, Waterbury's new slate of officers started a drive for this year's round-up at New Haven, but with an eye for next year's meeting. Al English '15 is the new president, succeeding Al Martin '24. A Smith should be the Waterbury secretary. Years ago, Frankie Smith '23 took over the job when but a kid alumnus; now Steele '29, hands the job over to his young brother Ed '32. It was strange to attend a Waterbury meeting without Ned Herr '06, and Charlie McCarthy '88; but one is a busy doctor and Charlie was on a cruise. The movies, "Dartmouth Life" concluded a fine meeting.

The football reels are good, too. Eddie Chamberlain measured up to his speaking assignment at Bridgeport in February. Fifty-six alumni and as many guests enjoyed Eddie's version of the past season. Another new group of district officers took over their jobs at this meeting, too. Manny Sprague '33 is Bridgeport's new president, along with Larry Stone '24, vice president. Luckily for Bridgeport, Ed Spargo '24 goes along with the secretary's job The western area held a group meeting at Stamford, on Dartmouth Night, listening in on the broadcast.

Press dead line. The last mail brings the news that President Hopkins will be with us again. Wednesday, May lath, is the tentative date. New Haven has always had a housing problem for this affair, but the success with Country Clubs during the past few years has swung their committee to consider the Racebrook Country Club. Two golf courses, and ample capacity for 300. Just a stone's throw from the Bowl. . . . . All eight Connecticut secretaries responded with telegrams on Dartmouth Night.
