Those indomitable switch hitters DaveWeld and Reg Pierce are subbing for Secretary Bill who is enjoying a $200 per day rest at Half Moon Bay, Antiqua. From Reunion Chairman Dave comes the following: "We've been through the beer can savings banks (I hope you got'em half full), we've battled, boozed, and banded at seven football games, Jake's matches have you all afire, Spook's and Doug Leigh's questionnaire is out to all for the reunion book, Compton's Allen's Alley Xmas Card is snugly in the archives at Crosby Hall, "Sports Illustrated" saw fit to tout us in an article after Yale, and fifty states shook, rattled, and rolled with 37 nationwide 25th Reunion '46 cocktail parties. By the time you read this, lots of old acquaintenances and reunion plans will have been strengthed through the media of Dartmouth Alumni meetings. Some 800 names are in the sock for June and it's got to be a new track record for the 25th.

The more, the merrier and your committee members, led by Dave Orr from the College met in N.Y.C. recently to spruce up the rough spots. Jack Ulrich, Bob Albrecht, Reg Pierce rattled in from Conn., Ralph Smith from Long Island, and the pressure troops from New Jersey, Gene Bokor, Bill Schulting, Dave Weld. Special kudos go to the L.D. rover from Rome, Buol Hinman. The program is solid, varied, and for those of you hanging for family plans or economic uncertainties, make your move now. This will be the class's finest and the college hasn't yet witnessed the equal.

Reunion news byline goes to TomBurnap—"The Burnaps will be there for the big one in '7l. Petie and I plan to attend with at least four of our five children; Karen, Tom, Parry, and Nana. The second daughter Joan, will still probably be in Lubbock, Texas. She is a sophomore at Texas Tech. Karen is a junior at Middlebury, Tom, Parry, and Nana are junior, sophomore, and freshman in high school. We have just moved back to the New England area after four years in Texas. One might say a transplant that didn't take. We are associated with the Harvard Medical School at the Boston Hospital for Women, where I am Director of Clinical Anesthesia for the Parkway Division of the hospital. We have moved our home from Newton to North Marshfield, Mass., which is about 20 miles south of Boston. Have a 300-year-old home on the North River with boating, fishing, and swimming off the front lawn. It Will be a great place for a Harvard-Dartmouth party next fall. Look forward to seeing you at the next executive committee meeting. Sorry I have not been able to make any of these over the last several years."

Please send in your attendance cards-fill up those beer banks, write your old roomie and get him off his duff to bring his Wood back to the plain. Your committees have done one fine job. The only losers will be those who don't make the effort. And here comes Reg with the year book.

It is a great treat to be back as a guest editor for the '46 column. This is my first illiterate appearance since my last efforts back in 1956. Things are really jumping towards our 25th.

Doug Leigh and I are inundated with your wonderful responses to the questionnaire and your photographs. Marsh Rotter sent one of the most interesting exhibits including pictures in the good old days of V-12, pictures of his recent Paris trip and great reports about the '46 meeting in Fajen's house in Milwaukee. A nice letter from Joe Davenport who originally planned not to return for the 25th but letters from Gus Gillaugh and Dave have changed his mind and he now plans to be back. Andy Murtha writes that he is constantly traveling in his new position as an independent consultant. He has clients in Charlotte, Sacramento, Providence, Detroit, etc. etc., but will make it to Hanover in June. A nice letter from Lilla Cooper,Milt's wife, tells about their son in the Class of '74.

Dr. Gordon Daisley sent us some wonderful extra snapshots and plans to be up from Washington. Kitty Hartnett,Tim's wife, sent a note and filled out his questionnaire and claims his portrait is two years old, before his sideburns grew in. Ralph Hersey sent in a great resume and a "hippie" hair-do picture of himself. Great note from George Hilton, who is a professor in the Dept. of Economics at UCLA. He wrote a special note that he "is most proud of retiring Warren Spahn's numeral" and "wants to be memoralized." George was hoping to return but now finds he can't make it which is a shame because he was going to serve on Ed Scheu's special panel. Got a nice note from DonJohnson. Brig. General Clark Judge will be back from Vietnam for the reunion. June and his children live in Hanover.

I learned that Walt Koontz is now head of the Look Magazine office in Atlanta, Ga., and hopes to be back for the 25th. A good note from John McClelland who sent one of the better typewritten notes on a special skipping typewriter. John and his wife will be there in June. Nancy VanOrden sent some very interesting pictures. Some of Norwich, Vt., after the great ice and snow storm. Nancy gets back to Hanover a lot since her brother lives in Norwich and is head of the English Dept. at Hanover High. Luke will be with us to recall the great old days of living in Wigwam Circle. Mort Thalhimer, the unofficial mayor of Richmond, Va., sent some extra photos for the section DougLeigh has designed for candid shots. They are great Mort! Mort and his family were at the Dartmouth Ski Way for a nice vacation at Christmastime.

Shady Bob Shade, that wizard of insurance in Decatur, Ill., reports that he and Eve are making big plans for the trek in June. He almost sent me his "brushed and combed" Bachrach and then owned up with an honest Polaroid of the "real me." Jon O'Brien is a professor at St. Joseph's College in Phila. and might be tied down with a summer session at college but is going to make an effort for the 25th. JohnMcLaughlin, of Weymouth, Mass., where he is a real estate appraiser and consultant, reports he went to a cocktail party at JimBarnet's on Feb. 6 where he also saw Growler Whitman and some non-Dartmouth types. And, my old roommate Dr.Charles C. Cunningham, reports in from Springfield, Vt., with a tally on his family. He and Marion have four children. Great to hear from you, Charlie, and all look forward to seeing you in June. Congressman Chip Coleman checks in from Asbury Park, N. J. Looking for a picture of AudBrindley and himself—we found it in the Archives, Chip, and it will be in the book.

My wife, Nancy, is sending all the gals a special letter with information that should be useful to you and your children when they return. There will be a Nominating Committee meeting for the next class officers in the Dartmouth Club on April 2 where "El Presidente" Ettari will preside.

Doug Leigh and I will be putting together the first dummy of the book tonight, 3/5. We really have some splendid material and photographs—thanks to all of your cooperation. I am having a lot of fun with this book but I can't say the same for my secretary. We are going to give her the special award of the class. My entire files are now '46 Class material, no room for the clients. It was great to be asked back and say hi to all of you via the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. See you in June. '46 UP!
