TWINS! ! TWINS! ! TWINS! ! !
We are more than pleased to make the announcement of the third set. The first set were the Pete Haffenreffers' on December 8 (girl and boy), the second the Dr. Harry Tinkers' (twin boys, adopted), and now the Bill Jenkins', on March 8 (twin boys, also}. I am quoting in part from Bill's letter: "The twins, W. W. J. Jr. and Richard Chase, weighed 5 lbs. 6 oz. and 6 lbs. 5 oz. (easy to remember). They are coming along nicely and are expected home March 28. To round out the bridge foursome we have two other boys, Thornton, almost four, and George Hathaway, almost two This winter I saw a disappointing basketball game between Dartmouth and Union. I leaned against some very long legs, which turned out to be Eddie Edwards', who is with the A fe P in Albany. He intimated that family and business interests had pretty much ousted basketball and baseball I also recently found out that Jack Livermore (in our class a couple of years) is with my company (General Electric) here in the Purchasing Department. A 1 Manning lives in Schenectady, too, representing the Manning Directory (city directories), and I occasionally golf with him Eddie Roessler, who used to be here with G. E., is now, with the Air Conditioning Department in Bloomfield, N. J., where I see by the papers he turns out a patent on occasion Missed the Yale game last fall but not again! ! . . . . Will see you this summer and hope to go sailing with Whitey and some of the Boston gang. Our address here is 840 DeCamp Ave."
A welcome announcement from 616 Westview Ave., Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, brings news of the birth of Dorothy Gould Osgood on March 22, to Dorothy and Frank Osgood. Frank says: "Here's number three. We were hoping for a third boyto help on the future Dartmouth crosscountry teams, but as this one seems so nicewe shall keep her and train another HelenWills instead."
Jock Brace is at present on one of his longest and most important business trips —a flying trip to Buenos Aires in the interests of his bank (the First National of Boston). He took the plane to Miami and then took daily hops to his destination, and is scheduled to be back about April lg Larry Welch is in the U. S. Internal Revenue Department. His work is quite secretive and pertains to tax evaders, etc George Chamberlain, one of- our remaining eligible bachelors, recently captained the University Club Class D Squash Team which won the sectional title. He was undefeated in the league. Both he and his twin brother, Stan, are with their father in Chamberlain & Cos., meat-packers Sleigh and Holden are sponsors of the Opera which is now in Boston. When prodded on this big step, they said it was about the only way to be sure of seats nowadays.
Reunion in Bermuda
Line Davis has just returned from his annual March trip with Deak Blodgett. He writes: "Deak and I had a very pleasanttrip to Bermuda. It was our third in asmany years, so this is getting to be an annual event. We hope it may continue toprove so for a long time to come, or atleast until we have seen some of the thingsmost of the visitors see or do on their firsttrip! To date we are only familiar withabout one third of the island. Deak didn'tbreak any fishing records this time, but Iam already figuring out the camera angles, lighting, etc., to photograph the 120-lb.wahoo he is going to pull in next year forthe new world's record. Brice Disquecame down while we were there, and BillBoies came down a boat or so later."
. Earlier in March the Lou Kimball and Monk Davenports ('27) took a cottage at Coral Beach, Bermuda, and had a reunion with Woody Wilson. Woody is headquartering in Bridgeport, Conn., an bears the imposing title of national sales manager for the radio division of General Electric.
Just before leaving Bermuda, Deak himself took time to write: "At the N. Y.alumni dinner early this month 725 Dartmouth men gathered to hear Prexy. TheTwenty-fivers had cocktails at Angie Jannsen's Hofbrau first and then went to theCommodore dinner. I noted the following:Pudge Wheeler, Curt Abel, Clif Hill, BobMisch, Terry McGaughan, Frank Brick,Dutch Gehring, Chuck Graydon, DonCameron, Ted Geisel, Walt Vom Lehn,Ralph Udall, Len Larrabee, Jack Davis,Chet Bolles, Pete Kelsey, Ross Pearl,Brownie (Ernest) Brown, Harry Clarke, and yours truly. I guess that is most ofthem. I rarely see any of the boys for othernews, hut speaking for myself 1936 was avery good year."
Also had a note from Dick Gratz, Denver's Postal Telegraph boss. By this time he expected to have spent a little time reminiscing in Chicago with Hort Conrad and others. He reports with great satisfaction: "As you know, I've been with Postal Telegraph for. the past four years, andI was delighted that on March 9 our company opened an office in Hanover. Eversince I joined Postal the fact that we havehad no office in Hanover has been a thornin my side. I wouldn't say a word againstour competitors but Our office upthere is a corker, and very modern. It isequipped to send fast messages to Hamp,N. Y., and other distant important points, and 1 hope the boys will get Postalminded."
As this goes to press a missive from Winter Park, Fla., imparts the following: '"Ourson arrived on the 31st of January. Heweighed pounds, and both he and hismother are doing nicely. Now, at the ripeold age of two months he is giving meswimming lessons and is entered in theclass of '55. His mother named him JamaGamble Rogers 3d, because when he wasborn he was tall and thin and had darkhair. (He has a lot more hair at this pointthati his daddy.) . ... I have seen FordAllen a couple of times and when Evelyn isa little stronger we are going over to callon them in Orlando. Ford looks fine-asusual."
