A summary of the 1937 Alumni Fund through May 17 discloses that 2,130 alumni have contributed $42,189.69 or 38 per cent of the objective of $110,000 which the Fund Committee has set for this year. These figures represent an increase of 18,305.30 in contributions and 404 in contributors over the figures in the report released for the corresponding period last year.
Six classes have surpassed their objectives for the 1937 campaign. The Class of 1879 holds a commanding lead with 2099 per cent, followed by 1881 with 849 per cent, 1887 with 267 per cent, 1884 with 179 per cent, 1901 with 109 per cent, and 1898 with 106 per cent. The Class of 1889, with 99 per cent and that of 1878, with 95 per cent, are close to the select group.
The 2,130 alumni who had contributed to the Fund by May 17 represented 19 per cent of the living graduates of the College, which was a gain of 3 per cent over the percentage given in the corresponding report last year.
Among the younger classes, 1926, 1925 and 1930 had come closest to their objectives by May 17. A total of 14 classes had passed the 50-per-cent mark, while 18 others had reached a point between onehalf and one-third.
